School of Health Sciences

Two important qualities required of staff members who support occupational physicians as good partners in occupational and environmental health activities are "creative intelligence" and an "attitude of responsibility for one's own learning." To meet the changing social needs, the School of Health Sciences develops human resources which can contribute to occupational health in an integral and creative manner, having perspectives on the relationship between life systems and environments.

Educational Policies

The School of Health Sciences trains students in the professional knowledge and technology enabling them to respond to increasingly diverse and advanced healthcare needs, and to become familiar with advanced knowledge, technology and the teamwork spirit needed to work with occupational physicians. At the same time it helps the students deepen their understanding of the dignity of human life while cultivating rich human sensitivity and scientific insight. The school also trains them to become capable of solving health-related problems from both human and environmental aspects. Furthermore, the school trains students to widen their views on occupational and environmental health to develop international perspectives and to deepen their interest in international issues.

Curriculum

Department of Nursing

Courses of Department of Nursing train students in the specialized nursing knowledge and technical know-how, and prepare them to play leading roles in specific fields in the future. These courses will also cultivate in students a deep understanding of the dignity of human life and rich humanity. Furthermore, the courses with wider social perspectives will train individuals who can contribute to promotion of health and practice of industrial nursing in the field of occupational and environmental health both on the national and international stages, while keeping in mind the principles of occupational health.

Courses of Environmental Health Sciences

Department of Environmental Management and the Courses of Environmental Health Sciences of Department of Medical and Environmental Health Sciences train professionals who maintain workers' health by promotiong safe working environment, and at the same time, who are well-qualified for doing industrial health managemant. Students learn the necessary knownlege and technology to be engaged in industrial hygiene as a specialist in industrial health work environmental measurement. They also acquire fundamental ethics, which is essential in promoting general occupational safety and health, and develop abilities to grasp, evaluate and solve various problems arising at worksite.
