Occupational Health Training Center
The Occupational Health Training Center was established as a facility for training occupational physicians and other health care specialists in acquiring knowledge and technical know-how related to the practice of occupational health, and at the same time for improving the quality of occupational health care overall.
In 1999, a residency program for primary care physicians in occupational medicine was added, and the director and staff members of the Center have been managing and adjusting the residency program for four years. Efforts are made to help the trainees secure positions as occupational physicians after completion of training.
The management of this Center is carried out under a university-wide system that includes the School of Medicine, the School of Health Sciences, the Institute of Industrial Ecological Sciences, University Hospital, etc., with the director and full-time faculty staff members playing central roles.
In actual operation, occupational health training for occupational physician trainees is carried out by four divisions: Division of General Health Management, Division of Health Care and Promotion, Division of Work Conditions and Ergonomics and Division of Work Environment Control.
Furthermore, the Center provides occupational physicians training courses certified by the Japan Medical Association, and carries out occupational health practices including services as occupational health physicians, health examinations and provision of technical information through an occupational health consultation desk for the university and ouside enterprises.
