Research Facility for Occupational and Environmental Health (RFOEH)
The Research Facility for Occupational and Environmental Health (RFOEH) is a common-use research facility consisting of the Bio-information Research Center, the Animal Research Center and the Radioisotope Research Center, and is equipped with research equipment and devices necessary for carrying out experiments that cannot be done by individual departments, etc.
Bio-information Research Center (BRC)
Research fields in medical and life sciences are becoming increasingly specialized and compartmentalized, and along with the changes, research environments are also changing greatly. The Bio-information Research Center (BRC) includes an electron microscope laboratory, instrumental analysis laboratory, climatic chamber laboratory, motion and behavior analysis laboratory, anechoic-vibration laboratory, research equipment developing laboratory and image analysis laboratory. The center is designed to be of use not only to education and research in the field of occupational and environmental health but also to increasingly diverse research.
Animal Research Center
With the development of medical science, the importance of experiments using animals has greatly increased. In order to respond to changes, the Animal Research Center has been made capable of breeding conventional animals with a general level of purity and special SPF animals free of pathogens. Even special experiments such as experiments of genetic modification can be implemented at the Center. Also, in order to be able to clarify the function of genes at the individual level, the center has facilities for breeding genetically modified animals. The center also has facilities such as the infection experimenting laboratory, inhalation experimenting laboratory, climatic chamber laboratory, photo environment experimenting laboratory, medical animal experimenting laboratory, plant environment laboratory, and anechoic laboratory to correspond with occupational health.
Radioisotope Research Center
The Radioisotope Research Center is a facility for implementing research experiments, student practices, education and training of RI handlers, etc., under legal control. Therefore, the Center has many RI applicable laboratories so that many experiments can be conducted individually depending on the type of RI and type of experiment. At the same time, the Center includes the latest facilities such as a biohazard xperimenting laboratory.
Also, consideration is given to avoiding congestion of trainees and research staff members during student experiments and educational training. Furthermore, with the application of automatic entrance and exit control system, research can be done freely at any time according to individual discretion.
