The Center for Stress-related Disease Control and Prevention was established in April 2016 in response to the Official Program Guideline for the Prevention of Death from Overwork (approved by the Cabinet in July 2015) in the Act for the Promotion of the Prevention of Death from Overwork (implemented in November 2014). This guideline states that not only improving and strengthening the entire prevention system, but also developing human resources etc., including occupational health physicians and professionals, through interaction with the University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Japan, and Occupational Health Promotion Center, will contribute to the creation of a pleasant and stress-free working environment.
This center is involved in developing human resources who will guarantee beneficial effects on the prevention of death from overwork by providing special training programs for occupational health professionals in some large urban areas in Japan. It is also engaged in the research and development of educational materials for those training programs.
