1. 口腔がんに関する研究
   1. 局所進展がんの治療：口腔の原発腫瘍が進展した場合，切除後種々の再建法を用いても機能障害をまねくことが多い．抗がん剤のターゲティング動注（大腿動脈経由で腫瘍の栄養動脈にを抗がん剤を注入）と放射線治療を併用する治療法を開発し（1996年），70％ (21／30名)で腫瘍の消失が認められている．また，腫瘍血管数が治療効果と密接な関連があることを示した（2000年）．
   2. 腫瘍切除後の再発防止：原発腫瘍切除後の再発の多くは，顕微鏡的な腫瘍残存による．これを防止するため，全切除縁を顕微鏡的に検索する方法（Mohs変法）を本邦で最初に報告した（1993年）．
   3. 所属リンパ節転移の早期発見：頚部の画像検査でリンパ節転移が不確かな患者に対して，針生検（細胞診）が有用なことを報告してきた（1995年）．また，原発腫瘍が組織学的に小さな腫瘍胞巣を形成している場合や，細胞核のS期分画値が高い腫瘍では潜伏転移の可能性が高いことを示した（1992年）．
   4. 放射線治療後の口腔乾燥症に対する治療：放射線治療後の口腔乾燥症はQOLを著しく阻害する．高気圧酸素治療が唾液分泌量の改善に有効であることを本邦で初めて報告した（1998年）．その機序を検討中である．
   5. 口腔がんと喫煙：発がん物質を分解する代謝酵素グルタチオン─Ｓ─トランスフェラーゼ亜型の有無が喫煙者における口腔がんに関連している可能性を示唆した（1999年）
2. 顎顔面骨骨折の治療

   ミニプレートによる顔面骨骨折治療法を日本で初めて紹介した（1980年）．この治療法は，種々の分野に応用されており，優れた骨接合法として受け入れられている．また，関節突起骨折の顎間固定を行わない非観血的治療法（1986年），ハーバート骨ネジによる下顎骨骨接合（1994年）など，下顎骨骨折の新しい治療法を報告してきた．

1. 口腔癌の治療：生存率の向上と同時に患者のQOLを阻害しない治療を目標としている．切除による機能障害が少ないと考えられる患者では手術を主体にし，進展癌ではターゲティング動注＋放射線治療の治療を行っており，広範囲の切除手術が激減しつつある．
2. 顎骨骨折の治療：ミニプレートによる骨接合法は，手術手技が簡単で顎間固定が不要なため，早期の機能回復，治療期間を短縮することができる．また，当科で行っているHerbert ねじによる骨接合，観血的固定を行わない関節突起骨折治療法は他の治療法に比べて利点がある．
3. 外来：智歯抜歯，顎関節疾患，口腔粘膜疾患の患者の治療が多い．全身疾患を有する患者の観血的処置も多く，院内他科との密接な協力のもとに治療にあたっている．
