2018 [22nd] Implementation of SAKURA Exchange Program in Science supported by JST (Posted on Dec. 27, 2018)

<Implementation of SAKURA Exchange Program in Science supported by JST>

Under the SAKURA Exchange Program in Science (Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science) supported by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), UOEH hosted ten students and one faculty from China Medical University, Taiwan from December 2 to 8. This is the fourth time for us to implement this program at UOEH.

The theme of the program was "Promotion of international exchange between Japan and Taiwan through occupational health perspectives". UOEH faculty members offered lectures in their expertise in occupational health, and the program included visits to cultural sites such as Kitakyushu PCB Waste Treatment Facility and Kokura Castle Japanese Garden in Kitakyushu city.

Many questions raised by the students during the program proved that the students were all eager to learn from the program. They told us that they are satisfied with the activities while the interaction with UOEH students was the best. We would be more than happy if this program gave the students an opportunity to further their understanding and interest in Japan and Japanese culture. We sincerely hope this program promotes the young students' continuous interest in Japan, and finally to bear a fruit as them coming back to Japan to study or other forms of collaboration between the countries.

Lastly, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to JST's warm support and kind cooperation by everyone involved in this program.
