Prof. Yasuo Morimoto, Director of the Institute of Industrial Ecological Sciences/Department of Pneumology and Research Associate Odgerel Chimed-Ochir, Department of Environmental Epidemiology together with occupational health experts of National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Japan and Centre for Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, the Catholic University of Korea provided lectures at the workshop on occupational lung diseases in Laos on June 27 and 28, 2019.

The workshop hosted by the Division of Environmental and Occupational Health, Department of Hygiene and Health Promotion, Ministry of Health, Laos and supported by the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific and WHO Office in Vientiane, Lao PDR focused on patho-physiological and diagnostic issues of occupational lung diseases and practical training session of reading chest X-ray films. In total, twenty five medical doctors specialized in occupational medicine, respiratory medicine and diagnostic radiology participated in the workshop.

<Medical Education Exchange Program 2019 with Mackay Medical College>

Based on the agreement regarding the Medical Education Exchange Program signed in 2015, we welcomed four undergraduate students from Mackay Medical College, Taiwan from June 26 to July 27. Following an opening ceremony and a welcome reception, the students joined a four-week clinical training program at the UOEH hospital together with UOEH undergraduate students.

2019 [12th] UOEH ranked 10th for citations globally in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020 (Posted on Oct. 8, 2019)

＜UOEH ranked 10th for citations globally in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020＞ 

According to the World University Rankings 2020 released by Times Higher Education on September 12, UOEH ranked 351-400th, 10th for citations (research influence) globally. In Japan, UOEH ranked 7th but 1st in the private universities.

In total, over 1300 universities from 92 countries, 110 Japanese univerisities (57 national univeristies, 11 prefectual and municipal universities, 42 private universities) were included in the rankings. The rankings were caluculated based on the 13 performance indicators in 5 key criterias such as Teaching, Research, Citations, International Outlook and Industry Income.
