<UOEH Institute of Industrial Ecological Sciences was redesignated as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Occupational Health>

 

The Institute of Industrial Ecological Sciences of UOEH, Japan has been redesignated as a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Occupational Health (WHO-CC for Occupational Health) by WHO on 6 January 2021. The institute will be a WHO Collaborating Centre (WHO-CC) for four years as from 23 July 2020.

The Institute of Industrial Ecological Sciences has been appointed as a WHO-CC for Occupational Health since 1988, and has engaged in various activities to promote occupational health especially in the Asian region.


As for a recent activity as a WHO-CC, Professor Yasuo Morimoto, Director of the Institute of Industrial Ecological Sciences and Dr. Odgerel Chimed-Ochir (lecturer) participated in an online workshop “The International Conference on COVID-19: Management and prevention at workplace” organized by WHO Collaborating Centres in the Western Pacific Region (WPRO) on 23 June 2020. The participants shared current and past situation and official guidelines on prevention of COVID-19 at workplace of each participating country, namely Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos PDR.

UOEH ranked 66th in Asia and 7th in Japan on THE Asia University Rankings 2021

 

According to THE Asia University Rankings 2021 released by Times Higher Education on June 2nd, UOEH ranked 66th in Asia, 7th in Japan and 1st among Japanese private universities and universities in Kyushu region. In total, 551 universities in 30 Asian countries and regions including 116 Japanese universities were listed in the rankings. According to THE, “The 2021 Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the overall World University Rankings, but the metric weightings have been recalibrated to suit the region”.

2021 [3rd] UOEH ranked 82nd in the world and 1st in Japan on THE Young University Rankings 2021 (Posted on June 28, 2021)

UOEH ranked 82nd in the world and 1st in Japan on THE Young University Rankings 2021

 

According to THE Young University Rankings 2021 released by Times Higher Education on June 23rd, UOEH ranked 82nd in the world and 1st in Japan. In total, 475 universities (including 17 universities in Japan) that are 50 years old or younger were listed in the rankings. According to THE, “The Young University Rankings are based on the same metrics as the THE World University Rankings. But the weightings are recalibrated to reflect young universities’ missions, with less emphasis on reputational surveys and more on factors such as research productivity, staff-student ratios, institutional income and doctoral education.”
